PROPOSED WATER IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM
The City of River Rouge will hold a public hearing for the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWRF) loan for the City of River Rouge lead service line replacement and Pressure Reducing Valves (PRV) improvements. The purpose of the meeting is to present the Water System Improvements and to receive comments from interested parties. The hearing will be held at a Special Meeting of the River Rouge City Council starting at 6:00pm on Thursday, June 10, 2021 using Zoom, interested persons may attend either on-line or by phone.

The purpose of the proposed project is to provide lead service line replacement as required by the Lead and Copper Rule (LCR) in June 2018 requiring all cities in Michigan to replace all lead water service lines. The water service lines must be replaced from the City-owned water mains within the street to 18 inches inside individual houses. In addition there will be one (1) water project that will involve replacing Pressure Reducing Valves (PRV) at two locations due to their age and to provide adequate pressure throughout the communities’ water system. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $3,500,000.00
Copies of the project plan detailing the proposed projects will be available for inspection by the general public at the Office of the City Clerk, 10600 West Jefferson Ave., River Rouge, Michigan starting Friday, May 7, 2021. Written comments received before the public hearing is closed on June 10, 2021 will be reviewed for incorporation into the final project plan. Written comments should be sent to the City of River Rouge’s Clerk’s Office located at 10600 West Jefferson Ave., River Rouge, Michigan.
