Mission

The Water/Sewer Department is responsible for water meter reading and billing, water main break repairs, catch basin cleaning and repairs, sewer main jetting/cleaning and repair, fire hydrant repair as well as many other various jobs.

The Water/Sewer Department office is located in City Hall Room 208. For questions about your water bill, final readings, water turn on and/or turn offs or sewer problems/questions please call the Water Department at (313) 842-4803. The office is usually open Monday thru Thursday and closed on Friday.

Payments for water bills can be made in the City Treasurer’s office on the 1st floor of City Hall or in the Monroe County Community Credit Union office located on the 2nd floor of City Hall. To make payments in the Credit Union you must have a copy of your bill with you or else they won’t be able to take the payment. You can also make a payment by check and/or money order and leave it in the drop box located in the front of City Hall in an envelope.

To pay your water bill online you can go to officialpayments.com. You must have your entire account number from your water bill ready and follow the prompts. You will also need the Jurisdiction Code number which is 3228. They will charge an additional 3% fee of what you’re paying for this service.

To pay your water bill over the phone by debit/credit card, please call 1-800-272-9829. You must have your entire account number from your water bill and the jurisdiction code which is 3228 to complete the transaction over the phone. They will charge an additional 3% fee of what you’re paying for this service.

Please be aware of any leaks the smallest of leaks running every day all day will raise your water bill significantly.
